Acer TravelMate P4 TMP449 is a budget business solution that packs lots of features and good performance at a reasonable price. However, the display of the notebook is not one of its selling points. Our tests show that the TN panel can reproduce about half of the colors in the sRGB color space which means that it is definitely not suitable for color-sensitive work but it gets the job done for daily tasks. The profile packages contain the usual Health-Guard, Office work / Web design and Gaming / Movie Nights profiles, each of which will improve the overall image quality in certain aspects. You can read more about them here and how to use them. We also suggest reading our dedicated article regarding blue light emissions and PWM and how our custom profiles help eliminate both to a certain extent.
The Acer TravelMate P4 TMP449 has a WXGA (1366 x 768p) TN panel with 52% sRGB color gamut coverage, a low contrast ratio of 380:1, a fairly high maximum brightness of 256 cd/m2 and a colder (8300K) color temperature than the optimal (6500K).
Since our profiles are tailored for each individual display model, this article and its respective profile package are meant for the Acer TravelMate P4 TMP449 with 14-inch panel manufactured by Innolux model number N140BGA-EA3. Office work / Web design
If your field is office work or web design, or you just want your monitor's color set to be as accurate as possible for the Internet color space, this profile will prove to be useful.
Gaming or Movie nights
We developed this profile especially for occasions on which you spend a lot of time in front of your monitor with some games or watching movies – it will be easier for you to discern fine nuances in the dark.
This profile reduces the negative impact of pulsation and the blue spectrum, securing your eyes and body. You still get a pitch-perfect color image, albeit slightly warmer.
Office Work / Web Design
This profile is developed to bring out the most accurate colors possibly in the sRGB color space which is the one used on the Web and HDTV. The panel is by no means suitable for color-sensitive work but our profile improves the color accuracy to the extent that it becomes a good multimedia display.
We’ve also adjusted the gamma curve and white balance to fit the standards.
Gaming and Movie Nights
The Gaming and Movie Nights profile improves the overall visibility especially in darker areas of the image. This way you will be able to see more detail when playing the underground level of some game or watching a movie where the scene takes place during the night. You can see an example here.
The Health-Guard profile reduces the harmful impact of blue light emissions and eliminates the PWM if there is such present. This particular panel uses aggressive low-frequency (200 Mhz) PWM to regulate the brightness so the Health-Guard profile is quite helpful.
