Lenovo Y700 (17″) display profiles – Quality and Health impact results

lenovo-Y700-17-heroIn relation to our detailed review of the Lenovo Y700 (17-inch), which we posted a while back, we are going to give you a little more insight regarding the profiles we’ve prepared. In the pack below, you will find the usual Health-Guard, Office work / Web design and Gaming / Movie Nights profiles. You can read more about them here and how to use them. We also suggest reading our dedicated article regarding blue light emissions and PWM and how our custom profiles help eliminate both to certain extend.

The Lenovo Y700 (17-inch) has an excellent IPS panel with little drawbacks. However, our profiles will improve the visibility in darker areas of an image/scene and will also aid for less stress on your eyes when it comes to blue light emissions.

Since our profiles are tailored for each individual display model, this article and its respective profile package is meant for Lenovo Y700 with 17.3″ LG LP173WF4-SPF1 (FHD, 1920 x 1080) AH-IPS screen, which can be found at Amazon.com: Lenovo Y700 (17″).

Office Work / Web Design

This profile aims to deliver the most accurate colors possible in the sRGB gamut – the colors used on the Web. That makes it suitable for Office work and, in some cases, for Web Design, although the IPS panel of Lenovo Y700 isn’t exactly the best option if you’re going to use it as a professional design workstation. We would advise that you pick a notebook with an IPS screen and better gamut coverage / contrast ratio. However, we successfully bring the average DeltaE 2000 (color accuracy, lower is better) down from 4.0 to 3.1. Let’s see how that looks in the two graphs below…

Gaming and Movie Nights, Health-Guard

The IPS screen of the Y700 will do fine when it comes to general multimedia but performs even better with our Gaming and Movie Nights profile. This profile lets you see more details in the darkest areas (you can see an example here).

As for the Health-Guard profile, it reduces the Blue Light impact and eliminates PWM to some extent but in this case, the Y700 doesn’t use PWM for regulating screen brightness so you will benefit only from reducing the blue light emissions by using this profile.

Installing and using the profiles

You can find a guide for installing and using the profiles HERE.

Hello!
I am looking for a good laptop for less that 800€ for developing, and VT. It be good with 8 or 16GB, good screen is the most important, and normal graphics (medium), good battery is a pro.

I have looked this models: Aspire nitro v17, asus rog gl752vw, lenovo y700 (17 or 15 inchs) and even Asus x556 or similars.

Thanks a lot Rossen Pandev for this good article (this web is in my favorites)
