3 reasons to buy Acer Swift 3 (SF315-41)

1. Stylish and sturdy design

This notebook features a premium and minimalistic design. The all-aluminum chassis seems pretty stable and it is not prone to bending. In addition, despite being slightly heavy at 2 kg, the weight of the device further contributes to its sturdiness, while also the tight hinge provides a stable screen.

2. Good IPS display

Another essential advantage of this device we would like to point out is its almost perfect IPS display. We say almost due to its poor sRGB coverage and the not so good color reproduction, however, the viewing angles are amazing, it offers very good contrast and comfortable gaming experience, while the first several levels of the grey area are separated remarkably well. You can also check our custom profiles that will make the visual experience even more appealing.

3. Powerful low voltage chip

Now let’s take a look what the notebook has to offer under its hood. We were pleasantly surprised by the chip which is manufactured by AMD. Both the CPU (Ryzen 7 2700U), as well as the GPU (Radeon RX Vega 10), provide low consumption which doesn’t come at the expense of power efficiency so you can get all your tasks done seamlessly.

2 reasons NOT to buy Acer Swift 3 (SF315-41)

1. Mediocre battery life

The Acer Swift 3 (SF315-41) has not so bad battery life – for example, it scored 324 minutes in our web surfing test and 260 minutes in our video playback one. However, the notebook drags behind some of its rivals in this aspect such as Dell Inspiron 15 5579 (Specs and Prices / In-depth Review) and Lenovo Ideapad 720S (Specs and Prices / In-depth Review) which offer a longer period of time away from the plug.

2. Presence of PWM (our Health-Guard profile fixes that)

And finally, the second drawback of the device is that it uses PWM across all brightness levels except for the maximum one. However, the frequency of the pulsations is high enough to reduce to a minimum the negative impact. In addition, you can also install our Health-Guard profile that not fixes the issue but also reduces the harmful Blue Light emissions while keeping the colors of the screen perceptually accurate.
