AMD Radeon RX Vega 5 (Renoir C4) vs Intel UHD Graphics G1 – the RX Vega 5 is 27% faster and comes at a lower price
Integrated video cards for gaming – a few years back that was mission impossible but with the latest SoCs things are definitely brighter. For today’s article, we’ve decided to pick the two least powerful iGPUs from AMD and Intel that are based on their latest mobile advanced architectures up to date – Zen 2 and Ice Lake, respectively.
The AMD representative is the AMD Radeon RX Vega 5 that can be found in a low-end inexpensive CPU like the AMD Ryzen 3 4300U while the other contender takes place in a bit more pricey SoCs – it’s the UHD Graphics G1. Without further ado, let’s see what these two little fellas can offer when it comes to budget gaming with an iGPU.

Specs overview
Not much to say here, both are iGPUs that are using part of the system memory, but the AMD Radeon RX Vega 5 has its own 512MB VRAM while the Intel chip has no dedicated graphics memory. The two rivals have a default TDP of 15W. However, the RX Vega 5 has the upper hand because it uses 7nm tech while the Intel one is “just” a 10nm chip. And while the Vega iGPU has 320 shader units and 1400 MHz boost clock, the Intel UHD Graphics G1 is equipped with just 32 shaders but it has the same ROP count like its opponent – 8. The base and the boost clocks of the UHD G1 are 300 MHz/1050 MHz.

Verdict
Without a doubt, the AMD Radeon RX Vega 5 is today’s winner. The performance that this iGPU offers is more than acceptable. Light games like Team Fortress 2, CS:GO, Dota 2, League Of Legends, or Rocket League aren’t a problem for the Vega iGPU if you don’t mind Low details. Yes, these games can run fine on the Intel UHD G1 Graphics as well, but with lower fps.
That’s the main weakness of the Intel UHD G1 – its performance isn’t bad, especially for the low-end integrated video card, but it definitely can’t match the AMD iGPU. On top of that, the devices with this Intel GPU are more expensive than the Vega 5-based notebooks. So, if you need a super cheap machine for light games, the AMD Ryzen 4300U with the RX Vega 5 is the right choice for you.
