[Comparison] Intel Core i7-11600H vs Intel Core i7-11800H – the numbers scale perfectly

This will be the first time that the Core i7-11600H takes part in a comparison, and we’re putting it straight up in the main event.

Today it will go against the Core i7-11800H, which might be its toughest opponent. While the numerical naming scheme might put the i7-11800H as the favorite, we have seen bigger upset victories and now it’s clearly anyone’s game. Ultimately, the Core i7-11600H happens to be a gap-filler between the CPU we’re comparing it against today, and the Core i5-11400H. Like the latter, it comes with 6 cores, but it has higher clocks and more cache, so it should be more suitable for gaming devices.

Here is our Top Laptop CPU Ranking, where you can check out the best performing processors.

CPU benchmarks

The Core i7-11800H had a sizable performance lead in both of our tests. It had a 33% higher score in Cinebench R20 and was 0.9 seconds faster in Photoshop.

Results are from our Photoshop benchmark test (the lower the score, the better)

Conclusion

Unsurprisingly, the Core i7-11800H offers higher performance, if certain conditions are met. For example, it has a lower base clock when compared to the Core i7-11600H, which means that cooling is very important. The CPU also has 2 more cores and four more threads, which also contribute tremendously, along with the 6MB of extra cache, which allows more data to be transferred quickly between the processor and the memory. On the other hand, the Core i7-11600H is the more affordable of the two, and it happens to do pretty well in games, as we saw in our Lenovo Legion 5 (15″ Intel, 2021) review.
