First impressions of LG’s V10 – extravagant design and two displays

Undoubtedly the V10 is one of LG’s most attractive models – not a flagship, but a top-notch device, nonetheless. It seems that this smartphone attracts a lot of attention, and this is one of the reasons for us to test it in the coming review. Before that, however, we would like to share our first impressions of the phone.

You can find more information about its price and availability here: http://amzn.to/243hj38

Even though the bezels are quite thin, we are still looking at a 5.7-inch model, so be prepared for bigger size. Holding the phone with one hand is relatively comfortable, which is due to the thin profile of 8.6mm and the slightly chamfered edges (creating an impression of an even thinner body). Manipulating the device with one hand, however, would be difficult, at least in the cases when you want to reach the upper part of the screen.

The V10 is shockproof as per military standards and our first impression of the construction is that it is quite sturdy. Also noticeable are the stainless steel frame and the coarse texture of the back, resembling rubberized finish. There’s no chance of leaving fingerprints on it – that’s for sure. All hardware buttons are placed on the back of the device in accordance with LG’s tradition, even though this was not the case with the G5. Additionally, the power button has an integrated fingerprint scanner in it, and we can say that it is fast and accurate. You will get used to in no time, as this is the natural position of your index finger while holding the device.

Here you will also find the main camera with laser autofocus and dual LED flash. It features 16MP and stands out with its OIS and f/1.8 aperture value, allowing high-quality pictures in low light, and 4K video capabilities. Additionally, you get several modes, including slow-motion recording, as well as a Pro mode with a good deal of settings for photographers. At the front, there are two cameras, allowing you to take a wide-angle selfie with more people in it.

Another awesome feature that makes the V10 stand out is its display – not the 5.7-inch IPS display with 2560 x 1440 resolution, but the additional one placed above the main screen. It is 2.1″ with a resolution of 1040 х 160, and is meant to provide you with shortcuts to certain functions and information about time, date, battery, missed calls and notifications. Thus, it can remain always on, independently of the main screen.

You can be certain that in the upcoming review we shall have a look at the performance, provided by the Snapdragon 808 processor, at the 3000mAh battery life, and at the functions of the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS and LG’s UI.
