HP ProBook 450 G4 vs HP ProBook 450 G5 – what are the differences?

Recently, we shared with you the most essential features of HP ProBook 450 G5 so maybe some of you might be wondering how it is different from its predecessor the HP ProBook 450 G4. Keep reading to find out.

Let’s start with the hardware options. You can configure your G4 with up to 7th generation Intel Core processors, however the G5 comes with up to an 8th generation one. As for the graphics performance, the former sports NVIDIA GeForce 930MX (2GB DDR3), Intel HD Graphics 620 or Intel HD Graphics 520, while the latter features all of them except for the last one. It goes without saying that the G5 comes with better hardware options but this will not result in significant performance gains. As far as storage is concerned, both notebooks offer up to 256GB SSD + up to 1000GB HDD.

Moving on to the display, the 15.6-inch HP ProBook 450 G4 provides more options to choose from – a TN panel with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, an IPS panel with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution and a TN panel with HD (1366 x 768) resolution. Its successor offers only the last two. As for the overall dimensions of the two laptops, the G5 is the thinner one – just 21 mm vs 24 mm, but it is slightly heavier – the G4 tips the scale at 2.04 kg as opposed to 2.10 kg. Of course, the differences in the numbers are minor but this may be important for some users.

In terms of operating system, both notebooks work with Windows 10 versions – either Windows 10 Pro or Windows 10 Home. And finally – connectivity options. With G4 you get 2 x USB 2.0 Type-A, 1 x USB 3.0 Type-A, 1 x USB 3.0 Type-C as opposed to 1 x USB 3.1 Type-C, 2 x USB 3.0 Type-А, 1 x USB 2.0 Type-A in G5.
