Inside ASUS VivoBook S14 S432 – disassembly and upgrade options

This notebook is a budget version of the ZenBook 14 UX434. Not only it delivers some of its great features, but the ScreenPad 2.0 makes your experience feel far more premium than expected.

1. Remove the bottom plate

There are 9 Phillips-head screws that hold the bottom plate to the chassis. After you unscrew them you need to pop the bottom plate with a plastic pry tool in order not to destroy the material on the panel, itself.

2. Battery

ASUS has equipped the notebook with a 42Wh battery. It would be a smart thing to unplug the battery connector before you proceed with upgrading the notebook.

3. Memory and storage

Upgradability-wise, the device sucks a little bit. All of the RAM is soldered to the motherboard, hence you would not be able to put more even if you badly wanted. On the bright side, you can upgrade the storage with an NVMe PCIe SSD, that slots right inside of the already busy M.2 slot.

4. Cooling system

In terms of cooling, there is one pretty beefy heat pipe doing the heavy lifting. In addition to that, there is a rather long heat spreader, as well as a medium-sized fan.

Hey,

I’d like to ask does the notebook already contain screw for the additional (second) SSD? If it doesn’t, what kind of of screw should I buy?

Thank you for your reply,
Rudolf
