And the laptop is plenty deadly, as it features the newest 11th Gen Tiger Lake processors and GPUs from NVIDIA’s RTX 3000-series. And this device doesn’t come without its parallel character, which was created by Japanese artist Nagano Tsuyoshi. It takes the form of a Japanese samurai warrior, decorated with the MSI Dragon.

Design

The design is really sleek and stylish, really resembling a katana, hence the name. The craftsmanship can be seen from the simple body lines and design cues. The materials aren’t specified, but we would assume that if you call a laptop Katana, you would do your due diligence and have at least the lid be metal. The hinge mechanism seems to work very similar to ASUS’s Ergolift mechanism, lifting up the base, to both give you a more comfortable experience when typing and help out the cooling as best it can so that you can squeeze out the last bit of performance.

Display

Both the GF66 and GF76 have a similar display on paper, except for the diagonal, which stands at 15.6 inches for the GF66 and 17.3 inches for the GF76. The display has a Full HD resolution and a refresh rate of 144Hz. It uses an IPS panel, which provides good color reproduction. The refresh rate goes a long way, in making the gaming experience great, actually improving the accuracy in FPS games and reducing motion blur.

Specifications and features

As for the specifications, the processor of choice is the Core i7-11800H. It is an eight-core, sixteen-thread unit, which means plenty of power for productivity, 3D modeling, Photoshop, Video editing, etc. Paired with the Cooler Boost 5 cooling setup, which MSI has been developing, makes sure that you can reach that 4.60 GHz boost clock fairly quickly and without much strain on the system. There are several GPU options to pick from, with the entry configuration coming with the RTX 3050, which is brand new. After that, we get the 3050 Ti, and if you have some more $$$ to spend, there is the RTX 3060. Keep in mind all of the see cards are laptop versions, so you shouldn’t expect identical performance to their desktop counterparts.

The keyboard here has a red backlight, a key travel of 1.7 mm, and tactile feedback. It is also full size, so it has a dedicated NumPad and some hotkeys for the Dragon Center fan presents. The Nahimic Audio stereo speaker setup means that you can be on top in every game while listening to your favorite music to hype you up.
