Dell’s Inspiron lineup is the next one to receive an update to Kaby Lake

Shortly after Dell announced its renewed XPS 13 with Kaby Lake CPUs and improved battery, the company is going after its mainstream lineup as well. The new Inspiron 15 5000 and 17 5000 will receive not only the much-needed hardware upgrade but will also sport new clamshell, which the company claims will be thinner and lighter for both form factors. In general, the portability will be improved and there are added tons of new color options to the menu – Sparkling White, Midnight Blue, Fog Night, Matte Gray, Black, Bali Blue, Tango Red and Cosmic Purple.

There’s no word for now about specific configurations but it’s safe to assume that the laptops will deliver the usual Intel U-series chips – Core i3-7100U, Core i5-7200U, Core i7-7500U paired with their HD Graphics 620 iGPUs or with a discrete solution. We don’t have information about the latter but probably the refreshed NVIDIA 900M-series will be on board given the price point of the laptops and their target users.

The Inspiron 15 and 17 laptops will go on sale starting October 4 with a starting price of just $549, which isn’t bad at all for the latest hardware on the market.
