HP ProBook 470 G3 has a decent TN panel with slightly above average readings

hp_probook_470_g3_ansicht7-1Of course, you can’t expect the best of image quality from a budget business notebook but the HP ProBook 470 G3 delivers a little bit more than what the industry standard has to offer at this price range. However, some of the drawbacks can be fixed by using our custom profiles, which will be published alongside our full review of the model.

Before we start, we want to clarify that this article is about the HD+ (1600×900) model with TN panel. It covers 65% of the sRGB color gamut – on contrary to most similarly priced laptops that have merely 50% coverage – 201 cd/m2 maximum brightness and about 7500K color temperature. The average dE2000 is 9.8 while the contrast ratio is decent – 470:1. But as we already stated, most of the issues can be fixed by using our custom profiles. For example, the average color deviation can be lowered to 2.1, which is a big improvement. Also, the Health-Guard profile will reduce the negative blue light emissions and will lower down the color temperature as 7500K is a bit too high, especially when you consider the fact that 6500K is the optimal white point.
