[Comparison] AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS vs AMD Ryzen 7 5800H – The older CPU isn’t going down anytime soon

How does the new 7000-series Ryzen 7 7735HS compare to 2021’s outstanding Ryzen 7 5800H? Today we’re here to find that out. The two chips have a lot in common, with the same core and thread configuration, as well as the same cache capacity, as well as similar clock speeds. The architecture of the 7735HS is very similar to that of the Ryzen 7 5800H, as Zen 3+ is essentially a refresh of the Zen 3 architecture that’s the base of the 5000-series.

Today we’re comparing the AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS against the Ryzen 7 5800H.

CPU benchmarks

The Ryzen 7 7735HS is only 4% quicker in the Cinebench R23 test. When we move to the Photoshop test, we see a lead for the 7000-series CPU of 0.5 seconds, which isn’t much as well.

Results are from the Cinebench R23 CPU test (the higher the score, the better)

Conclusion

While the Ryzen 7 7735HS is slightly better in the CPU tests that we run, as well as having a more powerful integrated GPU that absolutely kills it for entry-level gaming, we should actually give the win to the Ryzen 7 5800H, as despite being two years old, it’s still competitive. While that may also be because AMD hasn’t put out anything really new, except for the upcoming Zen 4 CPUs, which we hope bring the fight to Intel and make the CPU landscape more interesting.
