[Comparison] NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 (60W) vs GeForce GTX 1650 – Entry gaming has never looked better

While we love to compare and play with high-end graphics cards on a daily basis, not everyone is as fortunate as we are. The entry market is where most gamers look for their next device, mostly because of budgetary reasons.

However, this doesn’t mean that they can’t have a great time, as budget GPUs have gotten really good nowadays. Today’s comparison attests to that, as we have the new RTX 3050 go against its predecessor, the GTX 1650.

Here is our Top Laptop Graphics Ranking, where you can find the best laptop graphics.

GPU benchmarks

All of the synthetic benchmarks went in favor of the RTX 3050, which is to be expected, as it brings a newer architecture, more cores, and a slightly higher TDP. The Ampere GPU performed 44%, 45%, and 56% better in 3DMark Fire Strike, Unigine Heaven 4.0, and Unigine Superposition, respectively.

Results are from the 3DMark: Time Spy (Graphics) benchmark (higher the score, the better)

Conclusion

As you can see from the results below, the RTX 3050 is the superior card. It performed better both in the synthetic and the real-life gaming benchmarks, with percentage increases in the double digits. This was to be expected, however, as the Ampere architecture has done nothing but solidify itself as the best in the mobile gaming world. Still, there is a market for the GTX 1650. If you are a person who plays occasionally and doesn’t need the best and most recent tech, the GTX 1650 has enough performance to give you what you seek. Along with that, laptops with it can be found for really good prices.
