ASUS VivoBook S15 S533 (2020) vs VivoBook S15 S532 (2019) – what’s new?

ASUS announced a lot of new devices on CES 2020 and one of them is the new VivoBook S15 S533 (2020). The VivoBook notebooks are a more affordable alternative of the ZenBook series. We have an in-depth review of the S532 model and it’s a decent thin machine with ScreenPad and ErgoLift hinge but the display wasn’t good enough. The S533 model brings fresh upgrades in the Vivobook lineup.

What’s new – Comet Lake CPUs, bigger batteries, No ScreenPad

The ASUS VivoBook S15 S533 (2020) can be configured with 10th gen Comet lake CPUs like Core i7-10510U and the top GPU for this series is the NVIDIA MX250. As we already said, those are affordable machines, don’t expect powerful RTX and GTX graphics cards here.

WiFi 6 wireless is coming to VivoBook S15 S533, as well as new design, new screen options (with 86% screen-to-body ratio), and bigger batteries (50Wh units, the old model has a 42Wh battery capacity). Unfortunately, there are some cut-downs – the ScreenPad isn’t available in the new devices. There is no 6-core CPU option as well.

The I/O options look promising – a USB 3.2 Gen 1 (Type-C), a USB 3.2 Gen 1 (Type-A), two USB 2.0, an HDMI, an audio combo jack, and a microSD card reader which is really nice to have. The keyboard is a full-size backlit one, with 1.4mm key travel.

No Numpad … disappointed! 🙁

However, if integrated into touchpad, not so bad.

Will await reviews.
