ASUS ZenFone 3 ‏ZE552KL preview – 5.5” Full HD display, 4GB RAM and 16MP camera with OIS

You may remember that we recently acquainted you with ASUS Zenfone 3 ZE520KL in a short preview article. Today we would like to do the same but with the other, more premium version of the phone – ZenFone 3 ‏ZE552KL.

If you happen to show interest, you may wish to check the smartphone’s current price and availability here: http://amzn.to/2e4ufTQ

Elegant glass design and 5.5-inch Full HD display

Design-wise, there are no drastic changes over the other model with the exception that the ZE552KL  is slightly bulkier because of the larger screen. The same is valid for its weight – 155 grams. Other than that, the thin profile of 7.7 mm has been preserved as well as the stylish construction, featuring glass surface on either side of the smartphone and a metal frame.

When it comes to the display, the major change is in its size – 5.5 inches. Its resolution is Full HD (1920 х 1080 p) again, and so you can expect high enough image detail. Additionally, ASUS points out the display’s high brightness providing perfect visibility irrespective of the environment. As far as scratch protection is concerned – we are dealing with Gorilla Glass 3.

Fingerprint scanner, USB Type C and Snapdragon 625 mobile chip and 4GB RAM

Just below the camera, on the back of the smartphone, you will find the fingerprint scanner, which allows you to register up to five fingerprints, and unlock your phone exceptionally fast – 0.2 seconds, irrespective of the way you have positioned your finger on top of the sensor. What’s more, this scanner has other capabilities apart from simply being able to unlock your phone. Furthermore, the smartphone boats a USB Type-C port, high quality SonicMaster sound as well as high speed LTE Cat 6 connectivity.

No changes are to be seen in the processor department – we are again presented with a Snapdragon 625. It has been manufactured through a 14nm technological process and features eight Cortex-A53 cores, ticking at up to 2.0GHz. All this is complemented by an Adreno 506 graphics card and 4GB of RAM. Furthermore, the internal storage has been doubled to 64GB and there is also a microSD card slot, which supports cards with up to 256GB of storage.

16MP camera with OIS and feature rich ZenUI 3.0

At first sight, there are no changes in the camera department, which is a good news. It is a 16MP camera with an IMX 298 Sony sensor, f/2.0 aperture, 6-element lens, optical image stabilization, which is meant to reduce the number of blurry shots, a dual LED flash and laser autofocus, which can focus in 0.03 seconds. The list goes on with a menu rich in settings and modes plus 4K video recording capabilities. There is also a sapphire protection against scratches. As for the front, there is an 8MP camera with f/2.0 aperture and Full HD video recording.

Zenfone 3 ZE520KL comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow but what is more interesting here is the available ZenUI 3.0 user interface included by ASUS. It traditionally brings a good number of useful software functions and many pre-installed applications.
