[Comparison] Acer Spin 3 (2020) vs Spin 5 (2020) – what’s new?

At CES 2020, Acer introduced its new replenishments – the Acer Spin 3 (SP314-54N) and Acer Spin 5 (SP514-54N).  The Spin models are affordable 2-in-1 transformers with a thin profile, slim bezels, low weight, and decent hardware.

The new ones are no different. The new models will be slimmer and lighter than its predecessors and will rock Ice Lake CPUs. This means that they will also have the powerful Intel Iris Plus graphics inside. The 2020 variants of Spin 3 and Spin 5 will come with the new Acer’s Active Stylus with Wacom AES technology.

The Spin 3 and 5 models share some other similarities like aluminum chassis, LPDDR4X memory that will boost the CPU performance and the iGPU speed as well, Thunderbolt 3 support, Acer True Harmony audio enhancements, and, hold your breath – TN panels. Hm, the convertible devices are preferred by the content creators because those notebooks offer more freedom because of their innovative chassis designs and touchscreen panels – but a TN display doesn’t fit well on the whole picture. PCIe 3.0 x4 SSDs will be on board too with capacities up to 1TB.

The Spin comes with 1.5kg weight and the 16.9mm profile.
