日本First impressions of Huawei P8lite – style and elegance, untypical for the middle range
Now that we’ve reviewed some devices from Huawei’s Honor lineup, it’s time to focus on Huawei P8lite. We’re going to put it through our usual tests, the results of which you’re going to see in its upcoming review. Prior to that, we’re going to share our first impressions of the model.
It’s highly unlikely that someone will be disappointed by the software, because like other Honor models, Huawei P8lite offers a wide variety of pre-installed apps, games and a handful of useful functionality options and modes, available in the settings menu. This includes the gesture commands and the one-hand usage mode. You can add a software button on the screen that offers some extra options. The “games” folder contains some interesting titles. In addition to all this, you also get the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop. Simply put, don’t concern yourself about the software – you won’t be disappointed.
Although P8lite is a representative of the mid-range, it features a really stylish design. The slim profile of 7.7mm, the golden strip that surrounds the phone, and the amazing texture on the back all contribute to that. The design is “unibody” – the rear panel is not removable, and if you want to insert a SIM or microSD card, you have to use the special pin, found in the package. Keep in mind that the second SIM slot doubles as a microSD slot.
The device uses a Kirin 620 processor, made by Huawei. We’ve already tested the capabilities of this SoC in Honor 4C and 4X. It delivers high performance, which in most of the tests surpassed the results of Snapdragon 410. The graphic performance provided by the Mali-450MP4 GPU is satisfactory. The device is equipped with 2GB of RAM. Judging by the rather short period of time we’ve spent with it, it runs pretty smoothly.
Kirin 620 features 8 Cortex-A53 cores, operating at a clock frequency of 1.2GHz. They are known for low energy consumption. This will have a positive effect on battery life. The battery has a capacity of 2200 mAh, which is typical considering the dimensions of the model and the thin profile. We’re about to test its durability. Speaking of the battery, we must mention the Power saving mode, which can extend the period between recharges when necessary.
Again, as in most Honor models, we see a 13MP rear camera, and the first few photos we took with it look very good. You can expect a post with some samples taken with P8lite. We noticed that there are a lot of camera modes and settings, so we definitely plan on playing around with them.
