[Specs and Info] Acer Extensa 15 (EX215-54) – business notebooks don’t need anything more than this

Despite newer and newer hardware always coming, many notebooks don’t need the cutting-edge technologies that they provide. With Alder Lake and Zen 3+ getting all the buzz, you shouldn’t overlook the Tiger Lake and older series of CPUs from both Intel and AMD, as they still offer great value, which will become even greater as they go on sale, and newer generations become more readily available.

For today, we have the Acer Extensa 15, which offers two power-efficient Tiger Lake U-series chips, along with decent display and graphics options, which should handle business tasks like a tank.

Today we are giving you a quick overview of the Acer Extensa 15 (EX215-54).

Acer Extensa 15 (EX215-54): Full Specs

Design

Being a cheaper option, the Extensa 15 does come with a plastic chassis. However, you should worry about it, as while build quality does matter, as long as you’re careful with your device, you’ll be good to go. The design itself is similar to the TravelMate and the previous Extensa 15 notebook, with a black exterior, silver hinge cover, and a silver Acer logo in the middle of the lid. In terms of dimensions, the laptop weighs 1.90 kg and has a profile of 19.90 mm.

Display

The display that is used here has a 15.6-inch diagonal, comes with Full HD resolution, and uses an IPS panel. There is no information about color coverage or accuracy, but you’d rarely need them in a business setting, or if you’re just doing mundane tasks.

Specifications and features

The base model has the Core i3-1115G4 and the Iris UHD Graphics Xe G4. It is a good CPU for web browsing and media consumption but you might see some struggle when handling more complex tasks. After all, all it’s got are two cores and four threads.

Moving on, we have the Core i5-1135G7, which adds two more cores and four more threads. It is a far more capable CPU, being able to handle more complex tasks with relative ease. The Iris Xe Graphics G7 inside is also beefed up, with 80 Execution Units. It can do a decent amount of gaming with most free-to-play esports titles running smoothly at decent settings.

In terms of I/O, there is a single USB Type-A 2.0 port, two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, an HDMI connector, an Ethernet port, a VGA connector, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
