The world of creator laptops is getting a bit crowded. ASUS, however, doesn’t want to fall behind the competition, and for that reason, they have found a way to innovate once again. Their newest device, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 GU603 is a bit of a hybrid laptop. It is both a gaming laptop and a Creator laptop, which is pretty smart. Combining the two makes the consumer think that he gets a better value for his money. The laptop has the necessary performance for high-end gaming, while not compromising the weight that much and offering features that content creators will find irreplaceable.
Today we are giving you a quick overview of the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 GU603.
ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 GU603: Full Specs
The laptop is very good-looking, thanks to the dot matrix on the back, that is made using CNC milling. The minimal branding is also vital, since walking around with a billboard isn’t always preferred. There is a small ROG logo on the back of the lid, in the bottom corner. The body, we assume is made out of metal, with aluminum being the predominant choice for laptops. The whole laptop is covered with a coat of soft-touch paint, which minimizes smudges and fingerprints. Making for a more comfortable experience, ASUS has implemented its ErgoLift mechanism, which lifts the backside of the device, giving the cooling more room to breathe. The device has a 94% screen-to-body ratio, making its bezels one of the smallest that you can find, while still packing a webcam. The weight, considering the specs, is very manageable, stopping the scales at 1.90 kg while being just 22.3 mm tall.
Considering that the laptop is made with content creation and gaming in mind, the display choice seems to be perfectly fitting. You get a 16-inch 2K+ IPS screen. This means a 16:10 aspect ratio, which gives more room on the Y-axis, improving multitasking and productivity. With an aspect ratio of 165Hz, you will get a smooth gaming experience through and through. And with 100% DCI-P3 coverage, you can do all kinds of color-sensitive work like a professional.
Specifications and features
As ASUS had to make some sacrifices, they chose to do so with the gaming performance. While you still get up to an RTX 3070 (Laptop, 100W), which still offers great power, especially at 1440p, it won’t be on a flagship level, like laptops with the RTX 3080 (Laptop). For video editing and rendering, however, you get the absolute best that Intel has to offer, thanks to the Core i9-11900H. The CPU has an 8-core, 16-thread design and a boost clock speed of 4.90GHz, which is crazy and looks to be very achievable thanks to the liquid metal cooling that ASUS has put in place for the Zephyrus M16.
You get some of the best audio in the game with a six-speaker front-firing setup, which has Dolby Atmos technology. The use of a 3D Mic array allows for the capture of the best audio during calls, while the Two-Way AI Noise Cancelation clarifies sound from your feed and incoming feeds as well. The keyboard that the laptop uses is also a piece of art, with a travel distance of 1.7 mm and silent clicks, which measure at below 30dB.
