Design

The VivoBook has a metal lid while the rest of is made of plastic. While not as premium as a ZenBook, we feel like it’s good enough. In terms of looks, we have a decently portable body with diamond-cut edges and rounded corners. It comes in two colors: Quiet Blue and Cool Silver. The blue is a lot like navy, while the silver is a light shade. The Enter key on the keyboard and the lid have a chevron pattern. In terms of dimensions, the laptop weighs 1.80 kg and has a profile of 19.9 mm.

Display

The display selection includes an FHD OLED panel with 100% DCI-P3 coverage and 400 nits of brightness. Then we jump to a 2.8K OLED display with a higher 600 nit peak brightness and a 120Hz refresh rate. Both panels are Pantone Validated and come color-calibrated out of the box.

Specifications and features

The Intel-powered laptop has four processors to choose from starting with the 8-core Core i5-12450H and going as high as the 14-core Core i7-12700H. On the AMD side, you can pick between the Ryzen 5 5600H and the Ryzen 7 5800H. This

For graphics, there’s the MX 550, which we wouldn’t recommend, as it doesn’t provide a sufficient performance boost compared to the iGPUs that we have here. Then there’s the GTX 1650, which is an aging GPU that you can get inside discounted and on-sale laptops from last year and further. The two GPUs that we would consider are the RTX 3050 and 3050 Ti, which come at a lower TGP of 50W but still offer AI technologies that speed up rendering times and help with animations.

Keeping the temps low is a setup with two heat pipes and two fans. The solution is made to be quiet as well, working at below 40dBA in Standard mode.

The I/O on the laptop consists of two USB 2.0 ports, one USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, one Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 2) port, which has Thunderbolt 4 support on the Intel model, a MicroSD card reader, an HDMI 2.1 port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
