[Specs and Info] Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Gen 3 (AMD) and ThinkPad L13 Yoga Gen 3 (AMD) – Modernising the ThinkPad formula

The ThinkPad brand has a history and presence that is unparalleled. However, history isn’t everything and you can’t solely rely on it. This is what Lenovo is trying to do with the ThinkBook brand, which is growing bigger and bigger, offering a new vision of office laptops.

This doesn’t mean that ThinkPads need to cease existing, but rather modernize and reinvent themselves. This is what Lenovo is doing with the L13 and L13 Yoga Gen 3, which come with powerful and efficient Ryzen CPUs, integrated graphics, and great display options, at least from Lenovo’s provided information.

Today we are giving you a quick overview of the Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Gen 3 (AMD) and the ThinkPad L13 Yoga Gen 3 (AMD).

Design

First of all, the laptops come in a color different than black, which is a big change in and of itself. Secondly, the lid here is made of aluminum, while the base and bottom panel come from the tried and true glass fiber reinforced polymer, which delivers a durable structure. As all ThinkPads go, there are ThinkPad and Lenovo badges on the lid and the base.

Display

The regular L13 comes with a 13.3-inch FHD+ IPS panel with either 300 or 500 nits of brightness, 800:1 or 1000:1 contrast ratio, while some models also fully cover the sRGB color gamut. The convertible option brings much of the same panels, but they also have a touch layer.

Specifications and features

The two devices offer the same hardware selection, with a total of five Ryzen 5000U-series processors. Starting from the Ryzen 3 5425U, you can go as high as the Ryzen 7 5875U. In terms of graphics, there are only integrated solutions, with the RX Vega 6, 7, and 8, each with a 15W TGP. You can expect good performance from all three of them, including quick app loading times. For more serious work you’ll have to splurge for a better-equipped model.

Despite being small and with a 13.3-inch form factor, the laptop offers good I/O coverage with two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, two USB Type-C 3.2 ports (one Gen. 1, and one Gen. 2), a single HDMI 2.1, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
