[Specs, Info, and Prices] HP OMEN 16 (16-k0000) – It has some big shoes to fill

Last year’s OMEN 16 was a big hit, offering powerful hardware and a quality panel up front, to give gamers and creators a special device that doesn’t come very expensive, while offering a lot of upsides. Well, it didn’t take HP a lot of time to come up with a successor, powered by the new Alder Lake processors in tandem with the same RTX 30-series graphics.

Today we’re giving you a quick overview of the HP OMEN 16 (16-k0000).

The HP OMEN 16 (16-k0000) is available now with a starting price of $1,299.99.

HP OMEN 16 (16-k0000): Full Specs

Design

The laptop reuses the same chassis from last year, which is totally alright since the OMEN series’ latest design is very good. You get a minimalist look, with a black jewel on the back, contrasting with the bright blue that we saw last year. The lid is made of plastic, while the base is aluminum, which is a complete 180 from the way most manufacturers do things. The base is uniform, with the same grey finish, and with the number 16 in the bottom right corner, etched using a glossy material. In terms of weight and height, the laptop stops the scales at 2.39 kg and has a profile of 22.60 mm.

Display

The display selection from last year finds its way into the 2022 notebook as well, with two 16.1-inch FHD IPS panels with either 60Hz or 144Hz refresh rate. If you want more pixels, there is a QHD display with a 165Hz refresh rate and a 3ms response time. So far, there’s no information about its Creator capabilities, but since last year’s laptop was good at that, we don’t see a reason to remove it from the 2022 version.

Specifications and features

The laptop has three CPU options, all from the Alder Lake H-series, with up to the Core i9-12900H. On the GPU end, there are a lot of options, from the entry-level RTX 3050, all the way up to the RTX 3070 Ti. Usually, HP OMEN laptops have lower TGP graphics, which is one of the main reasons to go for a Legion 5 or a Nitro 5 instead.

The port selection consists of three USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, two USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 2) ports, an HDMI 2.1 port, a DisplayPort, an Ethernet port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
