[Specs, Info, and Prices] HP OMEN Transcend 16 (16-u0000, 2023) – The Thin and Light market is becoming interesting

HP OMEN Transcend 16 (16-u0000, 2023): Full Specs

Design

The laptop comes with a total design overhaul when compared to previous OMEN devices. There are two colors to choose from, either Ceramic White or Shadow Black, both of which will certainly get a lot of attention. Regardless of the color, the laptop uses a magnesium-aluminum alloy for the chassis, which means better durability and portability. The thing weighs only 2.09 kg and has a profile of 19.81 mm, so it’s easy to pop into a bag, while not sacrificing performance. The new design incorporates sharp edges and rounded corners, as well as a flat lid and base. The heat vents are found on the back and the sides, which is also where the I/O is situated.

The port selection includes two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI 2.1 port, an Ethernet port, and the 3.5 mm combo jack, which you can’t go without.

Display

There are two displays available, both with 16.1-inch diagonal, IPS panels, and a 16:10 aspect ratio. The base configuration offers a Full HD+ display with a 165Hz refresh rate and a supposed 7ms response time, which is good for gaming. It also has a peak brightness of 400 nits and fully covers the sRGB gamut. The more powerful GPUs that can drive more pixels deserve a higher-res panel, so you can upgrade to a QHD+ 240Hz display with the same brightness and color coverage. Finally, there seems to be a special version of the QHD+ display that’s only for the models with an RTX 4070 GPU, which has an even higher 1180-nit max brightness and 100% DCI-P3 coverage, as well as a Mini LED backlighting.

Specifications and features

The performance of the laptop is tied closely to its HX-series processors, of which you can choose the Core i7-13700HX with 16 cores and 24 threads, or the Core i9-13900HX with 24 cores and 32 threads. It’s risky that HP is using the most powerful 55W processors in a thin model like this, so hopefully they’ve engineered a good enough cooling setup. For the graphics, you can pick between the RTX 4050, RTX 4060, and RTX 4070, all three with unspecified TGPs. However, the new Ada graphics like to run on lower power limits, while still delivering good performance, so we’re excited to get our hands on the laptop and see what it can do.
