The Legion series from Lenovo has always held a dear place in our hearts. They were among the first manufacturers to start integrating the Incognito gaming designs, with sleek and good-looking gaming devices that showed no lack of power.

Then they started getting experimental, coming out with the Legion 5 Pro, which combines the best qualities of gaming laptops and Creator laptops. Today we have the latest 2022 models of the Legion 5 Pro and Legion 5i Pro, which combine the latest Intel and AMD hardware with a more productivity-oriented 16-inch, 16:10 display.

Today we are giving you a quick overview of the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro (16″ AMD, 2022) and the Legion 5i Pro (16 Intel, 2022).

The Lenovo Legion 5 Pro (16″ AMD, 2022) and Lenovo Legion 5i Pro (16″ Intel, 2022) will be available in April and February, respectively with a starting price of $1,130 and $1,200, respectively.

Design

The Legion 5 Pro series usually comes with a premium build quality and a metal chassis that feels durable. At least that has been our experience with previous entries in the brand. The whole laptop is very angular, with boxy shaped lid and base. There are sharp edges and rounded corners. We also see a reverse notch, which houses the Webcam. In terms of branding, there is a grey Legion wordmark that doesn’t light up, along with Lenovo badges on the corners of the lid and the base.

Display

The display that is used has a 16-inch diagonal, QHD+ resolution, and uses an IPS panel. With a 240 Hz refresh rate, a 3ms response time, FreeSync, and G-Sync support, we have a very quick display for gaming. Of course, this laptop has the Creator qualities that it needs to call itself a Pro, with full sRGB coverage, Dolby Vision support, and a 500 nit peak brightness.

Specifications and features

In terms of hardware, the AMD variant offers the Ryzen 5 6600H and the Ryzen 7 6800H, while the Intel model has the Core i7-12800H and the Core i9-12900H. All the available CPU options will do a fine job for video editing, 3D Rendering, and other productivity tasks. In terms of graphics, we aren’t given exact models, but you can expect up to the most powerful RTX 3080 and RTX 3080 Ti in decent TDP configurations, that will not only boost gaming performance but also quicken rendering and video encoding speeds.

The I/O covers a lot of ground, with two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, three USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 2) (one of them on the Intel model is a Thunderbolt 4 port), an HDMI 2.1 port, an Ethernet connector, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
