Apple officially revealed the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus – specs sheets, new features, pricing and release dates

Apple’s event was held yesterday and as expected two new iPhones were revealed. The new models continue Apple’s tradition and have the same appearance as last year’s iPhone, although there is an addition to the color options – Rose gold. There are also a couple of new features added to the devices that we are pretty hyped about. The first one is the 3D Touch display, which remains the same size (4.7-inch) and resolution (750 x 1334 pixels) as the iPhone 6, but has a new technology added to it. The incorporated feature is similar to the latest MacBook’s Force Touch touchpad. The screen now measures the pressure you apply on it and based on that, it performs different tasks. Many shortcuts were added to the frequently used apps for this purpose. This is possible thanks to the capacitive sensors integrated into the display. In the video below you can get a better idea of how exactly this news technology works.

Another new feature of the device is its SoC – Apple A9 paired with M9 coprocessor. The manufacturer didn’t share a lot of information about its capabilities, but it was made clear, that it has a new type of architecture. This is Apple’s 3rd gen 64-bit SoC, that should provide 80% higher computing performance and 90% higher graphic performance compared to its predecessor.

Both of the cameras in the new iPhone have gone through improvements with the read iSight one being 12MP now. It is capable of capturing more detailed photos, as well as video recording in 4K resolution. The front-facing camera has a 5MP sensor and uses the device’s display as a flash. Especially for aiding this process, there is a special chip that has been implemented making the screen three times brighter. There are also improvements in the TouchID sensor, that should read fingerprints a lot faster now.

As for the iPhone 6s Plus. Well, basically it features the same improvements as the iPhone 6s. The new 3D Touch display, but in this case on a 5.5-inch screen with Full HD resolution, A9 SoC, 12MP camera and new Touch ID sensor. However, there is one additional feature found in the iPhone 6S Plus that is not found in its smaller sibling and it addresses the build quality. The larger iPhone 6S Plus is made with 7000 series aluminum, which is the strongest alloy even used in an iPhone. The reason of this is to prevent the phone from bending as we all remember the #bendgate last year.
