The new Dell Inspiron 5770 (17 5000) – specs, features, configurations and prices

Dell Inspiron 5770 or 17 5000 is a 17-inch non-touchscreen notebook part of the company’s 8th gen-equipped portfolio. Much like the Dell Inspiron 5570 that showed you a bit earlier, the Inspiron 5770 is a feature-packed notebook at a reasonable price.

The Inspiron 5770 is powered by the Core i5-8250U or Core i7-8550U which are Intel’s latest mobile chips and currently the only representatives of the 8th generation in the mobile segment. Despite the fact that they are ULV chips with only 15W TDP, they have proven themselves as powerful CPUs capable of things never imagined with such a low powered chip.

The Inspiron 5770 is a 17.3-inch notebook with two display options. The base model features HD+ (1600 x 900p) resolution while all other configurations come with a Full HD (1920 x 1080p) panel which we strongly recommend especially when considering the large screen.

You can optionally equip your notebook with a discrete GPU if you want to turn it into a budget gaming device. You can go for the AMD Radeon 530 which has 4GB of GDDR5 video memory. This GPU is just enough to run most modern games on low graphics setting at a reasonable 60+ fps. In any case, it is a big upgrade over the dedicated UHD Graphics 620.

Battery life on the Inspiron 5770 should be decent but we don’t expect too much from the 3-cell 42Wh unit fount inside. It is the same one found in the Inspiron 5570 which has a smaller 15.6-inch display. However, the resolution is the same so the screen size might not matter too much. This is something we can not tell without testing.

Another thing similar to the Inspiron 5570 is that the USB Type-C port features PowerDelivery to charge your other devices and video-out only on the configurations with a discrete graphics card. The Inspiron 5570 also featured a 12-month subscription for McAfee LiveSafe antivirus system but the Inspiron 5770 also gives you a 30 day trial of Microsoft Office. However, we don’t know the exact terms of these promotions. You have to contact the manufacturer for further details.

The Dell Inspiron 5770 (17 5000) has a starting price of $749.99 and should be already available in some regions. If it is not available in yours, it should become so in the near future.
