The wait is over – Lenovo launches ThinkVision displays with USB Type-C docking

Ever since USB Type-C came around and got more widely spread, the need of USB-C-enabled monitors became big. Well, Lenovo delivered at CES 2016 and even introduced monitors with a docking station, wireless charging and WiGi support for enabled notebooks. The best part is that you can take advantage of Windows Continuum on smartphones like the Lumia 950 smartphones. Just plug and play without any hassle.

The ThinkVision X24 Pro offers 1080p resolution with IPS panel, USB-C docking station, 2x 3W speakers, dual-array microphone, mDP support and Intel’s RealSense 3D camera for Windows’ facial recognition. The display is virtually frameless and for another $150 you can add wireless charging (Lenovo isn’t specific about it, but it’s probably Qi) and another $250 for WiGi bar. Anyway, the starting price is $399 and will start shipping in May.

The second monitor that the company introduced was the ThinkVision X1 and follows the same design language as its tablet and notebook siblings – ultra-thin (it’s just 7.5 mm thick). The resolution, however, is UHD (3840×2160), offers the USB-C docking, which supports DisplayPort 1.2 or in other words – UHD at 60 Hz refresh rate. The panel is 10-bit and boasts 99% sRGB color gamut coverage, HDMI 2.0 (via USB-C), 1300:1 contrast ratio and 300 cd/m2 maximum brightness. Unfortunately, the starting price is considerably higher – $799.
