[Comparison] Intel Core i7-11370H vs AMD Ryzen 7 5800H – the Ryzen processor shows 89% better performance in 3D Rendering and is 1.2 secods faster in Photoshop

There are new processors from both Intel and AMD. Intel is coming out with their H-series Tiger Lake chips, which should be even more powerful than the G-series, which had a TDP limit of 15W. These new Tiger Lake processors come with a limit of 35W, so they should be able to handle even more. On the other hand, we have the Ryzen 5000 H-series Zen 3 chips, which are crazy powerful. From the Intel side, we have the Core i7-11370H, which has four cores, eight threads, and a boost clock speed of 4.80 GHz. To combat it, AMD presents its Ryze 7 5800H, which has double the number of cores and threads, while having a lower boost clock speed of 4.40 GHz.

Here is our Top Laptop CPU Ranking, where you can check out the best performing processors.

Today we are comparing the Intel Core i7-11370H against the AMD Ryzen 7 5800H.

CPU benchmarks

The Core i7-11370H finds itself heavily outclassed in 3D Rendering, where the more cores and threads attributed to an 89% higher score for the Ryzen 7 5800H. In Photoshop, things were still in favor of the Ryzen CPU, but the difference wasn’t as outrageous as the first one. The AMD processor finished the benchmark with a 1.2-second lead.

Conclusion

To summarize, the Core i7-11370H was way out of its league when it came to 3D Rendering, but didn’t suffer as hard in the Photoshop benchmark. We would recommend the AMD CPU, but as always, price is always the most important factor. If your work consists mainly of image editing and processing, then the Core i7 would still do a fantastic job, and would be a better deal, if you can find it at a lower price. The same goes for the Ryzen 7 5800H if you fancy 3D Rendering more.

the situation on laptop cpu market is pretty ridiculous. in desktops, for example, 5600x 6-core will cost you 2 times less than 5900x 12-core. seems fair, right? and all, users, manufacturers, media, agree with the fact that these cpus are from different categories how far they are in performance(multicore performance, in photoshop’s ancient engine they are the same). in laptops, on the other hand, you can buy a top tier cpu(5900x analogy) in a buget machine nearly for the cost of intel 2-core i3. look at U-segment, these 4700-5500–5600-5700-5800 are absurdly cheap in some machines(i will buy one this year… Read more »

You can get a 100-150 bucks difference between 4500U and 4700U in laptops of the same type, which seems roughly in par with the desktop market on same 6/12 – 8-16 CPUs
