[Comparison] Intel Iris Xe Graphics G7 vs NVIDIA GeForce MX230 – the integrated GPU offers significantly better gaming performance

Today we are comparing an iGPU against a discrete GPU to see if the old tale that iGPUs are a joke holds any value. The Intel Iris Xe Graphics G7 has been taking wins left, right, and center, against a variety of different opponents. This time we are putting it against the NVIDIA GeForce MX230.

GPU benchmarks

In all of our tests, the Intel GPU won by a lot. It managed to perform better in all of our tests and with very significant percentage advantages. It was 108% better in 3DMark Fire Strike, 31% better in Unigine Heaven 4.0, and 178% better in Unigine Superposition.

Conclusion

This is another dominant victory for the Intel Iris Xe Graphics G7. With performance gains of up to 178% in synthetic benchmarks and around 23% in high settings in both games we tested, this iGPU is definitely something to consider when choosing your next machine. The improvement on the side of Intel has been impressive, and we can’t wait for them to release their own discrete GPUs, and hopefully pair them with adequate drivers.
