HP Elite Dragonfly G2 (2020) vs HP Elite Dragonfly G1 (2019) – what’s new?
HP Elite Dragonfly G1 is an impressive 2-in-1 device bundled with good hardware options, decent displays, a lot of security tech, and on the top of that – it’s light and slim. HP decided that it’s not enough and just some months after the premiere of the G1 its successor is almost ready to hit the store shelves.
The G1 model still impresses us with its pros so we will explain to you what new tech and options the new model will offer over the last year’s one.

A built-in Tile tracker
Yes, maybe this is the biggest innovation in the new variant. This is the first time that a Windows-based device will be equipped with a Tile tracker technology. The Tile module will “collaborate” with the built-in Bluetooth and it will allow you to locate the device if you lost it somewhere or if it has been stolen. You will be able to track the device even if the battery is out of juice which sounds very good. One more thing – you have to download the Tile app through MS Windows Store.
If you have the bad habit to forget where have you last placed your laptop, this Tile tech will be in your good graces for a long time. Maybe this will be a main key-selling point for some people to prefer the new one over the G1 variant.
Hardware: 10th Gen Intel CPUs
The Dragonfly G1 can be configured with Intel’s 8th Gen processors while the new one will rely on 10th Gen ones. As we already know, those CPUs dissipate less heat, they are more power-efficient, and they have enough CPU power to drive modern business-oriented machines like the Dragonfly G2 devices. For power users, HP will offer a 6-core CPU as well.

Some other new options – up to 2TB M.2 SSD, 5G modem
For those who need more space, the Dragonfly G2 devices can be equipped with up to 2TB M.2 SSD (Gen3 x4 NVMe). That is a serious upgrade over the G1 which can be configured with 512GB M.2 SSD as a max capacity.
The optional Qualcomm X55 LTE+5G modem looks like a good option to consider for people who are often “on the move”, taking their devices with them.
