[Specs, Info, and Prices] The HP ENVY x360 15 aims to conquer the convertible market, with high-power, low TDP AMD CPUs

HP is an enormous manufacturer, sitting at #2 in the ranking of most devices shipped in the world, right behind Lenovo. This means that they have diversified among many different markets, and have to offer even more devices, in order to not stagnate their brand and portfolio. The 2021 versions of the HP ENVY x360 15 are here and HP is giving you the choice between both AMD and Intel processors. To make things easier, today we will only cover the AMD version so that it isn’t too confusing.

The HP ENVY x360 15 with the AMD 5000 U-series processors will be available in April with a starting price of $749.99 for the Ryzen 5 model and $959.99 for the Ryzen 7 model.

Design

Starting off from the design, the laptop implements a more rounded design, which can clearly be seen when looking at the bottom panel. In terms of build materials, you get a body completely made out of aluminum, which is both great to touch and use and is quite durable. The matte finish ensures that you won’t have to worry about fingerprints. Open up the lid and you are greeted by a good-looking backlit keyboard and a slightly thicker palm rest area, as well as front-facing speakers, tuned by Bang & Olufsen, which should be a treat to listen to. Weight and height-wise, the laptop stops the scales at 1.86 kg and is 18.2 mm tall, which is fairly compact, especially considering the 15.6-inch form factor.

Display

HP offers only one option for display and it is a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS touchscreen panel, which we hope is the same panel from the previous year’s ENVY x360 15. That screen had great color coverage and even better color accuracy, making it perfect for graphic designers and artists as a whole. In addition, the laptop has slim bezels and a glass cover, so you won’t have to worry about the durability of the screen.

Specifications

Under the hood, you will find several AMD options for CPUs, which come from the latest Ryzen 5000 U-series chips. Now, you should know that both the “entry-level” Ryzen 5 5500U and the Ryzen 7 5700U still use the Zen 2 architecture, while the rest have moved up to the Zen 3 architecture. Nevertheless, they are powerful and efficient enough to provide great performance, at the cost of very little heat dissipation, thanks to their 15W TDP. With these Ryzen chips, you also get Radeon’s Vega iGPUs, with the RX Vega 6 (15W) powering the Ryzen 5 5500U and the RX Vega 7 (15W) powering the Ryzen 7 5700U.
