ASUS reveals a new updated version of the Chromebook Flip

As every year, Computex brought us some interesting new tech – all sorts of notebooks, convertibles etc. Now ASUS revealed something a bit different – a new Chromebook. Chromebooks aren’t the most popular devices and Chrome OS has its ups and downs but if you are looking for a small and cheap device for media purposes mainly than a Chromebook might do the trick.

ASUS Chromebook Flip is a 2-in-1 convertible that received an update at Computex. It’s mostly the same in terms of design and looks. It still has a 10.1-inch display with 1280 x 800p resolution and the same hinge design. Most of the changes regard the internals. Now you get a more powerful six core Rockchip RK3399 processor which runs two Cortex-A72 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz and another four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz. This chip is combined with either 2 or 4 GB of RAM and storage options are 16 and 32 GB eMMC.

Another update that we particularly like is the upgrade in the connectivity department. Now you get two USB Type-C ports used for both high-speed data transfer and charging and a single USB 3.0 port. You also get a microSD card reader and a headphone jack. And of course, the new Chromebook Flip supports the Google Play Store just as its predecessor.

ASUS hasn’t shared information about pricing or availability but we can expect it to ship in the following months and it will most likely be priced similarly to the original which means a sub-$250 price tag.
