HP revealed its refreshed Pavilion and Pavilion x360 laptop series – affordable price with premium feel

The American company HP announced that it is updating its Pavilion laptop series with new 14, 15.6 and 17.3-inch models. In addition to this, the x360 models belonging to the same series will be upgraded as well. The new next generation devices will be thinner and lighter, and some of them will come with features inherent to the higher-end HP Spectre and Envy laptops.

Additionally, the new models are expected to be available in May or June. The first of them that we would like to look at is the most affordable of them all (approximately $400) – the 11.6-inch Pavilion x360. Its basic version will feature an Intel Pentium N4200 CPU, 4 GB of RAM and 500 GB of HDD storage. Apart from this, all Pavilion x360 devices will come with a stylus which has been an additional accessory so far.

According to the company, this laptop’s battery will be able to endure for up to 8.5 hours on a single charge, which will happen within a relatively short period of time – from 0 to 90% for 90 minutes. This is a feature expected to be available on all Pavilion devices.

The 11.6-inch display will come with an IPS panel and a resolution of 1366 х 768 p. Above it you will find the traditionally placed HD webcam with a viewing angle of 88 degrees. HP also likes to boast with the stereo loudspeakers adjusted by Bang & Olufsen.

We suspect that the company may offer another iteration of this device with a more powerful CPU (Core i3) and up to 8 GB of RAM. As for the rest x360 models, they will be offered with either HD or Full HD displays. Furthermore, the bigger brothers will have configurations with a Core i7 CPU and GeForce 940 or Radeon 530 GPUs. An additional option for even greater RAM capacity is found in the 15.6-inch model – 16GB, while the 14-inch version will ship with up to 12 GB.

Apart from the benefits resulting from a more powerful hardware, the customers who purchase a 14 or 15-inch model will have a choice between an M.2 SSD device with a capacity of up to 512 GB and/or up to 1TB HDD. The differences with the 11.6-inch model end with the USB connectors. We mean that the smaller brother has three USB 3.1 ports, while the bigger models – two USB 3.1 and one USB 3.1 Type-C.

When it comes to the 14, 15.6 and 17.3-inch Pavilion laptops, we are presented with both blue and red color options. The maximum RAM capacity here is 16 GB and the maximum storage space – 2 TB, realized with the help of an SSD device and/or HDD. Just as it is the case with the x360 models, we have the option of choosing between an AMD or NVIDIA GPU.

Despite the fact that Pavilion laptops are the more affordable solutions by this company, this does not mean that customers who purchase such a product will not be presented with a premium feel. Similarly to the Envy lineup, the refreshed Pavilion family will feature a metal keyboard panel, as well as a new hinge design which lifts the rear part of the laptop when the lid is opened for more convenient typing experience.

As for the prices, the new Pavilion laptops will start selling at around $600 for the basic 15.6-inch configuration, $700 for the 14-inch one, and $630 for the 17.3-inch model.
