We can say that the camera was one of the worst features of the first Moto G. The second generation fixed that problem with an upgrade from 5 to 8MP and significant improvement in photo quality. Even now it is still one of the best cameras in that price range. As it appears, the new Moto G will raise the bar even more thanks to its brand new 13MP rear camera with dual LED flash. The first few sample photos we took with the phone look really impressive. The front camera is also updated to 5MP.

If there we had to point to an aspect in which the second generation was worse than the first, it’d be battery life. The reason for that is obvious – the capacity remained unchanged – 2070 mAh, while the screen (one of the main power consumers) got bigger. The good news is that Moto G3 has a 2470 mAh battery, which should definitely affect durability in a positive way.

G and G2 used the same mobile chip – Snapdragon 400, accompanied by an Adreno 305 GPU. As expected, it is time for an upgrade in this aspect as well. Moto G3 relies on the Snapdragon 410 and its 4 economic Cortex-A53 cores, operating at 1.4GHz.

Motorola has once again decided that it is not necessary to increase the display size, leaving the same 5-inch display with an HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The results of our thorough display tests are on their way, so we’ll be able to give you a far more accurate evaluation of its quality soon. We are presented with pure Android Lollipop straight out of the box, but as we know, for a long time now that’s been available for the other two models in the series.
