Quick look at Lenovo Ideapad 310 – fully featured Windows laptop with 6th Gen Intel CPU, discrete NVIDIA GPU for less than $400

Although the Lenovo Ideapad 310 is marketed as an affordable multimedia laptop, the device is actually a decent low-end performer for your everyday work. The idea of a multimedia laptop with just an HD (768p) TN screen is a bit far-fetched but makes up with an excellent hardware for the general user with a decent asking price.

Design

In terms of design, the laptop is following Lenovo’s recent design language. It looks simplistic, clean and features a nice choice of materials that don’t attract fingerprints easily. It’s also fairly light and thin compared to most laptops at this price tipping the scale at 2.2 kg while the profile measures at just 22.9 mm.

However, we noticed that the lid of the laptop is quite flexible and gives in under small amounts of pressure but that’s not a practical concern unless you travel a lot and may need the extra sturdiness. Still, the rest of the chassis seems pretty solid – the keyboard tray is rigid as well as the wrist rest area along with the bottom cover. Hinges feel nice without being overly tightened so opening the laptop with one hand is possible.

What left us a really good impression is the AccuType keyboard of the laptop. The keys don’t have a long key travel but feature sensible feedback. It definitely feels nice and comfortable enough for speed and accuracy. The touchpad, on the other hand, feels a bit too small for this form factor and the mouse buttons are way too stiff. It’s still better than a wobbling one-piece trackpads we are usually offered at this price.

Hardware

On the hardware front, the laptop offers impressive specs for the asking price – 6th Generation Intel Core i3-6100U, Core i5-6200U and Core i7-6500U processors paired with up to 8GB of DDR4-2166 RAM and Intel’s HD Graphics 520 GPU. It’s also available with NVIDIA GeForce 920M GPU that should be substantially better than the integrated graphics for multimedia or some really light gaming on the go. But the latter isn’t listed in Lenovo’s official website so it might be a limited option for some regions. Just for the record, our unit is equipped with the 920M GPU. And finally, storage options include only up to 1TB of HDD.

The rest of the specs include a 15.6-inch glossy TN panel with 1366 x 768 resolution and a 30Wh battery unit to power up the whole system. It would be interesting to see how it rivals the ASUS X554 laptops that offer largely the same specs at the same price as well.

everything is cool. but only 2 things actually need to be worried are product quality and after-sale service quality. it is kinda pointless to purchase if it is easily broken within a year and hard time to get it fixed by claiming warranty. by the time, recently this model starts to use 7th generation processors like i5 7200U.
