日本Alienware 13 R2 (FHD) display profiles – Quality and Health impact results
The Alienware 13 R2 is the smallest Alienware-branded notebook you can find right now and configurations include FHD and QHD IPS panels. We got the chance to test out the 1080p variant and the results show it has some considerable drawbacks, some of which, however, can be fixed by using our custom display profiles. In the pack below, you will find the usual Health-Guard, Office work / Web design and Gaming / Movie Nights profiles, each of which will improve the overall image quality in certain aspects. The Alienware 13 R2 has an IPS panel with with narrow sRGB coverage, colder than usual color temperature and low maximum brightness. However, our profiles will improve a good portion of the image and will also reduce the blue light emissions.
Since our profiles are tailored for each individual display model, this article and its respective profile package is meant for Alienware 13 R2 with 13.3″ Samsung PVFF5-133HL (FHD, 1920 x 1080) IPS and the machine can be found at Amazon.com: Alienware 13 R2.

Office Work / Web Design
This profile aims to deliver the most accurate colors possible in the sRGB gamut – the colors used on the Web. That makes it suitable for Office work and, in some cases, for Web Design. However, this display doesn’t have the needed properties for color-sensitive work so we suggest looking for a laptop with a better IPS panel that has a wider sRGB coverage and higher contrast ratio. Anyway, we successfully bring the average DeltaE 2000 (color accuracy, lower is better) down from 5.37 to 3.47. Let’s see how that looks in the two graphs below…
Along with the color adjustments, we were also able to tweak the white point and also made some corrections of the gamma curve.
Gaming and Movie Nights
Although the panel lacks some important properties, it’s still a decent panel for gaming and general multimedia. However, you can take advantage of the Gaming and Movie Nights profile, which will improve the overall visibility – especially in darker areas of the image – during gaming and watching movies (you can see an example here).
Health-Guard profile
As for the Health-Guard profile, it reduces the blue light impact and eliminates PWM to some extent. Since the notebook is missing PWM, this profile still comes in handy for reducing the blue light emissions.
