The battery life of Toshiba Portege Z30 (A-1E1, 2015) is somehow underwhelming

g1_portege-z30-aToshiba isn’t vocal about the Protege Z30 whether it’s an ultrabook or a regular notebook, but judging by the full-sized ports and the size of the keyboard it would be safe to say it’s a regular laptop. On the other hand, the size and thin profile of the machine suggest otherwise.

However, the battery performance of the machine can’t compete with other ultrabooks on the market. Our initial battery tests show that web browsing on battery will get you through 350 minutes, video playback is 292 minutes and surprisingly, the Protege Z30 goes a long way with a gaming session of about 214 minutes. It’s strange to see a business class notebook perform better during gaming when testing the battery. The battery provided here is 3380 mAh (or 52Wh), manufactured by Toshiba itself, which proved to be subpar compared to other devices we’ve tested. It’s important to note that all tests were performed under the same conditions – Wi-Fi turned on, power saver is on, Bluetooth is off and screen brightness is set to 120 cd/m2.

Stay tuned for the initial review, because the Toshiba Protege Z30 has some other features that will probably get your attention.
