Intel Core i5-10210U vs Core i3-10110U – i5 wins the match with a big margin

Comet Lake CPUs are here to stay and we have to review them all. What a pleasant job it is. So basically there are two big questions in front of us – is i5 enough for everybody and is i3 already dated in terms of performance? Intel Core i5-10210U and Core i3-10110U are here to help us to find out the answers.

Quick Specs

Modern i5s (like i5-10210U) are a breath of fresh air mostly because they have 4 cores and 8 threads. In the past, that was i7 territory but nowadays we can enjoy premium specs in a mid-range CPU. Core i3-10110U is a standard i3 CPU in terms of cores and threads – 2 core and 4 threads. Of course, i5-10210U got more (hardware) muscle compared to Core i3-10110U – 6MB cache vs 4 MB cache and the Max Turbo Frequencies (4.20 GHz to 4.10 GHz) are almost the same. We have DDR4-2666 memory support and 15W TDP for both CPUs.

GPU Benchmarks

We won’t show you any GPU benchmarks here since the “new” UHD Graphics used in Comet Lake U is just a rebranded UHD Graphics 620.

Decisions, decisions – Intel Core i5-10210U or Core i3-10110U?

Of course, the choice is yours. If you are a regular user who is checking a couple of websites after work and then watch youtube videos you don’t need more than Core i3-10110U. But advanced users who edit videos and pictures, for example, will prefer Core i5-10210U because i5 is faster by any means. In addition, the price difference between them is not that big – Intel is selling them with an $18 price difference ($297.00 to $281.00). Obviously, Core i5-10210U is a better deal.
