Intel Core i5-11300H vs Core i7-11370H – the latter is too expensive

The Intel Core i5-11300H is the new kid on the block so let’s see if it can stand its ground against some other CPU siblings from the same generation. This time its rival is the Core i7-11370H – this is another Tiger Lake H35 processor but it’s a bit beefier compared to the newer Core i5-11300H. The Intel Core i7-11370H has higher base and boost frequencies, a bigger cache size, and a bit faster iGPU.

Specs-wise that sounds good but when we look at the prices we can see that the new Core i5-11300H cost $309.00 while the Core i7-11370H is much more expensive – $426.00. So, the bigger CPU costs $117 more compared to its newer and cheaper sibling. That sounds like a big markup for a product that has the same core and thread count compared to the Core i5-11300H. So, let’s see how fast is the Core i7-11370H and we’ll check if it can justify its higher price with a reasonable performance advantage.

CPU benchmarks

Actually, the difference between these two CPUs in terms of 3D rendering isn’t that big. Okay, the Core i7-11370H is 11% faster but don’t forget the fact that it’s much more expensive.

Conclusion

Let’s start with the prices again – the Core i5-11370H is 11% faster in 3D rendering and it has a faster iGPU but it’s 38% more expensive than the Core i5-11300H. The latter offers a much better price-performance ratio, and at the end of the day, it’s a 4-core CPU with 8 threads just like its bigger and more expensive blue nephew. No, the Core i7-11370H isn’t a bad CPU but it’s too expensive for what it is and the Core i5-11300H offers better value for its money.
