[Comparison] Intel Core i7-11800H vs Core i7-10750H – The jump in performance is insane

With the Tiger Lake H45 CPUs being released into the wild west that is the laptop market, we have to make the comparison against them and their predecessors, the Comet Lake H chips, which while being imperfect, had their charm, and offered tons of single-core power that rivaled AMD.

Today we have the Core i7-11800H, which looks to be the best bank for the buck Tiger Lake chip, as it doesn’t have the Core i9 price tag, but still offers performance that is very close to that level. Against it, we have one of the most popular Core i7 chips and is found in many laptops, the Core i7-10750H.

Here is our Top Laptop CPU Ranking, where you can check out the best performing processors.

Today we are comparing the Intel Core i7-11800H against the Core i7-10875H.

CPU benchmarks

The new Core i7-11800H outperformed its opponent in both the 3D and 2D Rendering tests. In Cinebench 20, it scored 66% higher, which is a massive improvement. As for the Photoshop scores, the Tiger Lake chip finished first the test with a lead of 0.82 seconds.

Conclusion

The jump in performance from Comet Lake to Tiger Lake is massive, especially in the 3D Rendering field. We haven’t seen such progress from one generation to the next in a while. As for which CPU you should choose, the Tiger Lake CPU is a clear favorite. Yes, laptops with them are more expensive, but in this case, it is totally justified.

Power Consumption.45W

11800h in asus 80w sustained power draw. 10875 in lenovo-60w. both over 100w in short bursts. stop it please.
and of course i have a question. why 6 cores vs 8, whats the idea here? the number of cores does not change between generations.
