Dell Inspiron 5759 preview – large business-oriented model from the Inspiron lineup

The American manufacturer, Dell, is one of the leading companies in every segment of the market – from budget-friendly devices to extraordinary Alienware gaming laptops. Today we’re going to take a look at an offering from their Inspiron lineup, which is popular for its affordable business-oriented, multimedia machines and even mid-range gaming solutions like the Inspiron 7559. Dell Inspiron 5759 offers an elegant and simplistic design, combined with a large screen.

Sleek and simplistic design

There aren’t a lot of changes done to the interior of the machine compared to its predecessor – Inspiron 5758. We’re again looking at the same clean design language around the keyboard and lid with Dell’s logo, of course. Since this is a 17-inch model, the touchpad is placed slightly to the left. Its size is a bit larger than usual allowing better use of the workspace with gestures and swipes. However, in our in-depth review, we’ll check whether or not it’s accurate enough and if it has any flaws like wobbling for example.

key

Dell Inspiron 5759 can be considered as an everyday multimedia machine providing a couple of features for easier and more comfortable use. First off, the notebook has a NumPad area and multimedia buttons, which help you perform various tasks way faster. Secondly, there’s a DVD burner available. You can use it to install, write and save your precious data or just enjoy watching Blue-Ray movies on the big screen. Speaking of which, we should note that there are two configurations available – the first one has a 1600 x 900 glossy display while the second one has a Full HD screen with matte finish.

Hardware

Since the notebook is slightly larger than the usual (15-inch), perhaps there are differences in the performance as well. Well, the new model is expected to be marginally faster than its predecessor. This time around, the laptop features an AMD GPU, while Inspiron 5758 had an NVIDIA Geforce 920M (4GB DDR3) chip. Now both configurations of the notebook sport the AMD Radeon R5 M335 GPU, which we expect to perform like the 920M, but we’ll make sure to check on that in our review.

We are also looking at a more powerful CPU as well. Both configurations feature latest generation Intel CPUs – Core i5-6200U and Core i7-6500U. There isn’t a major difference between the two and we’re eager to get our hands on the Inspiron 5759 and test its capabilities. Anyway, the notebook has 8GB of RAM. According to the manufacturer, given the hardware of Inspiron 5759, the machine should be able to last four about 7 hours on a single charge (we’ll perform our battery tests anyway, just to make sure).
