[Specs and Info] Lenovo ThinkBook 14 and 15 Gen 3 (Intel): Quality notebooks with Tiger Lake

Lenovo is giving the ThinkBook brand a lot of attention, as they’re trying to establish it as a viable competitor the business notebooks from HP, Dell, and others.

It’s not that they didn’t have the ThinkPad devices beforehand, but it’s good to expand the lineup, especially if you have the pedigree and market share that Lenovo has. The ThinkBooks present improved designs, which was the only negative about the ThinkPad laptops. Today we have the ThinkBook 14 and 15 Gen 3 (Intel), which bring Tiger Lake performance and Iris Graphics to the table.

Today we are giving you a quick overview of the Lenovo ThinkBook 14 and 15 Gen 3 (Intel).

Full Specs: Lenovo ThinkBook 14 Gen 3 (Intel) / ThinkBook 15 Gen 3 (Intel)

The ThinkPad 14 is definitely the better-built laptop, featuring an aluminum unibody, while the ThinkPad 15 gets an aluminum lid and a plastic body. We have reviewed some ThinkPad devices, including the predecessors of these two laptops, and we have to say, we were satisfied with the build quality. There were few bends here and there, but nothing out of the ordinary. The laptops are plenty stylish as well, as they look quite sleek, with minimal branding. In terms of weight and height, the ThinkPad 14 weighs 1.40 kg, while the ThinkPad 15 is decently heavier, stopping the scales at 1.70 kg and being 1mm thicker.

The laptops offer identical screen choices, with two Full HD IPS panels. The first one has 250 nits of brightness and an 800:1 contrast ratio. The second FHD display ups the brightness to 300 nits, a 1200:1 contrast ratio and covers 100% of the sRGB color gamut.

Specifications and features

Powering these two devices are two chips from the Tiger Lake G-series, the Core i5-1155G7 and the Core i7-1195G7, to be exact. These processors should bring the heat (not literally of course), in benchmarks and heavy workloads. In terms of graphics, on the ThinkBook 14, you can choose between the integrated Iris Xe Graphics G7 units or the MX450 discrete GPU. As for the ThinkPad 15, it only relies on the Integrated Xe Graphics G7, which are performing fantastically, and are the best-integrated graphics that you can find right now.

Features-wise, you get a fingerprint reader, a spill-resistant backlit keyboard, a dual array microphone, stereo speakers with Dolby Audio support, along with Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.2 support.
