ASUS VivoBook S14 (S435): Full Specs

Design

The thin and light metal unibody of the VivoBook S14 is just great to look at and use. The metal that is used is still unknown to us, but you can expect a sturdy and rigid device that can withstand the abuse that laptops go through every day.

As we mentioned the weight and thinness of the device, we have to give you the details. The new VivoBook S14 weighs only 1.30 kg and has a profile of 15.9mm, numbers that are beyond good. This essentially means that the laptop is one of the most portable ones out there, and the fact that it comes with the hardware it does makes it all the more enticing option.

Display

The ASUS VivoBook S14 (S435) comes with a 14-inch Full HD IPS display. The smaller screen size and the high enough resolution means that you will get punchy and detailed images. Moreover, the panel has thin bezels and a screen to body ratio of 90%, which makes the overall dimensions even smaller. A unique part of the VivoBook is the TUV Rhineland certifications, which ensures that the device’s screen doesn’t emit blue light that is over the accepted threshold, meaning that you can use the laptop without compromising your eyesight.

Specifications and features

Moving over to the specifications, the VivoBook S14 comes with several choices, which make it a formidable little beast. The entry model comes with a Core i5-1135G7 that is paired with the Intel Iris Xe Graphics G7 (80EU). For most people, this configuration will do more than a fine job for what a student will need and even dabble in some creative work. For the true enthusiasts, the Core i7-1165G7 is available and it comes with the Iris Xe Graphics G7 (96EU), which is absolutely one of the best CPU/iGPU combos on the market.

I/O-wise, the VivoBook is pretty loaded considering its portable size. You get four USB ports, two of which are Type-A (one 2.0 and one 3.2 port) and two Type-C ports, which support Thunderbolt 4. You also get an HDMI port and a MicroSD card slot for future storage expansion and quick file transfer. There is a fingerprint scanner for increased security and the Array microphone support voice recognition through Cortana.

Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5 support is also present here, along with an HD Webcam, a backlit keyboard, a trackpad that doubles as a Numpad with the press of a button, and a Harman/Kardon sound system. On paper, this device looks like one of the best that ASUS has ever produced and we just have to wait to get one for ourselves and prove if that is true.
