5 reasons to buy Acer Aspire 7 (17″)

1. Good build quality with brushed aluminum

The Acer Aspire 7 appears to be a well-made 17-inch laptop. Featuring a brushed aluminum sheet, the notebook is quite sturdy in the middle and is not prone to severe twisting. In addition, the bottom is made of rough plastic and has grills for dispersing the heat and two service hatches for easy access to the internals. Opening the lid reveals a brushed aluminum interior that is pretty stable. The input devices are also decent – both the keyboard and touchpad are comfortable to use.

2. Excellent, bright IPS panel with wide sRGB coverage and high contrast

We were impressed by the Full HD (1920×1080) IPS panel that offers a pretty good max brightness level of 420 nits, excellent contrast ratio – 1000:1, as well as 89% sRGB coverage, ensuring good multimedia and gaming experience. We also recommend using our custom profiles that further improve the image quality in terms of color accuracy, white balance and gamma.

3. Good price/performance ratio

Acer has achieved a relatively good balance between price and performance. For the asking price, you are presented with a 7th generation Intel Core i5-7300HQ CPU paired with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 (4GB GDDR5) GPU that make the laptop ideal for multimedia and gaming on a budget.

4. Quiet and effective cooling system even during heavy workload

Our extensive stress tests show that the cooling system can cope with a lot of torture effortlessly. Despite being ineffective in all of the laptops we’ve tested so far, the cooling design turned out to be good enough to keep things cool and under control even during heavy workloads. In addition, the fans ran pretty silently given the extremity of our stress tests.

5. Decent web browsing runtimes

When it comes to battery life, the 48Wh unit manages to keep the system running for a decent period of time during web browsing – you get 409 minutes (6 hours and 49 minutes) on a single charge.
