Intel announces Coffee Lake processors – specs sheet and information

After all the attention feel on the extreme processors from the Core i9-X lineup, Intel will announce the chips that target gaming users, as well as those who are after budget deals. The new lineup is called Coffee Lake and it will be officially revealed on the Facebook page of the American company on August 21. There is no official information about this eighth generation but some leaks give a pretty good idea of what we could expect to see in less than two weeks.

After the announcement of the Ryzen lineup, AMD “conquered” the mid range with models such as Ryzen 5 1600/1600X. It is for this reason that Intel will release on the market Intel Core i7 and i5 chips with 6 physical cores, as well as a Core i3 processor with 4 physical and 8 logical cores plus an unlocked multiplier.

And so, the flagship from the Core i7 Coffee Lake series is called Core i7-8700K and features a 6-core chip with an unlocked multiplier. The processor works at a base frequency of 3.7 GHz, and the available Turbo Boost technology takes that to 4.3 GHz (for 6 cores), 4.4GHz (for 4 cores), 4.6GHz (for 2 cores) and 4.7GHz for a single active core. As for the cache memory, it is 12MB L3 and the chip supports DDR4-2666 MHz (4400MHz+ after ОC) RAM, and is available for socket 1151 – we do not know yet if chipsets such as Z170 will support the Coffee Lake model.

Intel Core i5-8600K is the next chip from this lineup with unlocked multiplier and six physical cores. Unfortunately, it is highly unlikely that this chip will feature the HyperThreading technology which emulates a virtual core for each available physical core. Nonetheless, the clock speed of this bad boy is relatively high – 3.6GHz, up to 4.3GHz for one active core. Its cache memory is 9MB L3, and its power consumption – 95 W. Intel Core i5-8600K, similarly to i7-8700K, will support socket 1151.

And the most interesting representative of the Coffee Lake lineup, according to us, is Intel Core i3-8350K. As the name suggests, the chip will offer overclocking options and apart from this delightful news, we must mention that the chip will also feature four physical cores and the HyperThreading technology. In a nutshell, this will be the first quad-core Core i3 processor with 8 logical cores and unlocked multiplier. The chip uses a base frequency of 4GHz and has 8MB of L3 cache memory, with a power consumption of 95 W. You can observe similar specifications for the others expected Coffee Lake processors displayed in the table below.
