HP Pavilion 15 Gaming (15-inch, FHD, IPS) display profiles – Quality and Health impact results

hppavilion_gaming15__1_If you remember our review of the HP Pavilion 15 Gaming a while back, you will also recall that we don’t have profiles for this notebook. However, we are looking to correct with the refreshed version of the laptop, which comes with a different screen and a more powerful GTX 960M GPU on board. In the pack below, you will find the usual Health-Guard, Office work / Web design and Gaming / Movie Nights profiles. You can read more about them here and how to use them. We also suggest reading our dedicated article regarding blue light emissions and PWM and how our custom profiles help eliminate both to certain extend.

The HP Pavilion 15 Gaming has a decent IPS panel with, but with considerable drawbacks – inaccurate color reproduction, PWM from 0 to 99% brightness and far from optimal gamma. Luckily, our profiles will be able to fix all that.

Since our profiles are tailored for each individual display model, this article and its respective profile package is meant for HP Pavilion 15 Gaming with 15.6″ LG LGD0532 (FHD, 1920 x 1080) IPS and GeForce GTX 960M GPU on board. The machine can be found at Amazon.com: HP Pavilion 15 Gaming.

Office Work / Web Design

This profile aims to deliver the most accurate colors possible in the sRGB gamut – the colors used on the Web. That makes it suitable for Office work and, in some cases, for Web Design. Although, the display doesn’t offer the needed properties for color-sensitive work, if you want accurate color reproduction, we suggest using this profile. Anyway, we successfully bring the average DeltaE 2000 (color accuracy, lower is better) down from 3.7 to 2.9. Let’s see how that looks in the two graphs below…

Gaming and Movie Nights, Health-Guard

As we already mentioned, the display offers good image quality for general multimedia purposes but our Gaming and Movie Nights profile enhances the user experience just where it’s needed. This profile lets you see more details in the darkest areas (you can see an example here).

Health-Guard profile

As for the Health-Guard profile, it reduces the Blue Light impact and eliminates PWM. Since this notebook’s display uses high-frequency PWM, the profile will help with both – blue light emissions and screen flickering.

Okay, my laptop is as follows: It is a HP Pavilion 15 2016 model. One like you reviewed here: http://laptopmedia.com/review/hp-pavilion-15-2016-review-hp-is-stepping-up-its-game-with-a-good-performanceprice-ratio/. The screen on that laptop is a LG LGD0519, which isn’t my panel. I saw that the HP pavilion 15 gaming has the LGD0532 panel which is as a matter of fact the same panel as shown by HWMonitor. If i am not mistaking I am able to buy the color profiles for the HP pavilion 15 gaming whilst my laptop is the HP Pavilion 15 2016 model.
