Lenovo IdeaCentre 300 preview – every man’s budget configuration

During the last couple of weeks we published several reviews of hardware components that you may use if you want to put together a new desktop configuration (RAM sticks, MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Founder’s Edition, and MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Gaming X). This time, however, we would like to have a look at a desktop PC suitable for people on a budget. Despite this, the configuration is sufficient for everyday tasks and light gaming, while its box brings style and elegance.

Beautiful design accompanied by performance

300This box has its advantages and nice design. On the front, you can observe an irregular form with elegant and simplistic design language. We can’t miss mentioning Lenovo’s logo, which confirms that the key is unique and not sold separately. At the top, there is a DVD drive covered by a black lid, which stands out. Also, the sides have nothing on them except for the Lenovo inscription, located in the upper right corner on the right side, whereas on the left, there is a vent for an additional airflow.

Additionally, this lineup offers 6th generation Intel processors – from the dual-core Pentium G440 up to Core i7-6700, which features four physical and eight logical cores. There is also a discrete graphics card, and depending on the configuration, you can get GeForce GT 720/730 or even GTX 750 Ti, which is a good choice for some moderate gaming. As far as RAM is concerned, you can go up to 16 GB DDR3/DDR4, and storage options go up to 2 TB and an optional 120 GB SSD. The configuration also includes a free of charge mouse and keyboard.

Connectivity and warranty

300 (2)Lenovo IdeaCentre 300 offers not only style, but also a good number of ports and connectivity options. Apart from the two USB ports, DVD drive on the front, there are also a 7-in-1 SD card reader, as well as additional USB 3.0 ports, HDMI and VGA outputs from the motherboard (we are not counting the GPU ports). The PC boasts not only a RJ-45 port, but also Wi-Fi which means that you don’t have to be in proximity to a router or connect cables to the back of this device. Additionally, the supported standard is 802.11 AC(1×1), and we can’t miss the also present Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, which further facilitates audio or video streaming.

If you want to be on the safe side for a longer period of time, the Amazon.com store gives you two options as far as warranty is concerned. The first one is “3-year protection” which can be purchased at the price of $19.99. On the other hand, you can extend this period and make it a “4-year protection” by paying a bit more – $27.99.
