ASUS X555 display profiles – Quality and Health impact results

X555L_Teaser (1)A while ago we published the full review of the ASUS X555 (or K555 as it’s called in some parts of the world) and now we’ve prepared the full set of profiles that aim to bring you better image quality and reduced negative impact on your eyes. We’ve prepared the usual Health-Guard, Office work / Web design and Gaming / Movie Nights profiles but if you don’t know what these profiles are all about, we suggest you read our dedicated piece. We also suggest reading our dedicated article regarding blue light emissions and PWM and how our custom profiles help eliminate both to certain extend.

The ASUS X555 has a budget TN panel with considerable drawbacks but some of them can be fixed by using our custom profiles. They improve the general picture quality, limit the PWM to some extent and also decrease the amount of blue light emissions.

Since our profiles are tailored for each individual display model, this article and its respective profile package is meant for ASUS X555 with 15.6″ LP156WHB-TLB1 (HD, 1366 x 768) TN screen, which can be found at Amazon.com: ASUS X555.

Office Work / Web Design

This profile aims to deliver the most accurate colors possible in the sRGB gamut – the colors used on the Web. That makes it suitable for Office work and, in some cases, for Web Design; although the TN panel of Lenovo ASUS X555 isn’t exactly the best option if you’re going to use it as a professional design. We would advise that you pick a notebook with an IPS screen and better gamut coverage / contrast ratio. However, we successfully bring the average DeltaE 2000 (color accuracy, lower is better) down from 9.2 to 4.7. Let’s see how that looks in the two graphs below…

Gaming and Movie Nights, Health-Guard

The IPS screen of the X555 isn’t good for multimedia purposes either but our Gaming and Movie Nights profile will make things a tad better. This profile lets you see more details in the darkest areas (you can see an example here).

As for the Health-Guard profile, it reduces the Blue Light impact and eliminates screen flicker on 200 cd/m2 brightness (be sure to keep the brightness slider at its Max position).

Installing and using the profiles

You can find a guide for installing and using the profiles HERE.
