[Specs and Info] The ASUS ROG Zephyrus S17 GX703 takes an ingenius approach to cooling

Remember the Zephyrus Duo, which had a great approach to how they integrated the second display and how it actually improved the cooling of their device. While their new Zephyrus S17 doesn’t have a secondary display, it has taken that design feature and implemented it flawlessly, to achieve the same effect of cooling efficiency.  Other than that, it has the flagship specs that you would expect from an ASUS ROG product in 2021.

Today we are giving you a quick overview of the ASUS ROG Zephyrus S17 GX703.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus S17 GX703: Full Specs

Design

The laptop looks very slim, and in fact, it is pretty slim, with a thickness of only 19.9 mm. The weight, however, can be a lot to deal with, with the device stopping the scales at 2.60 kg, due to its 17.3-inch form factor. With the laptop being mainly constructed out of a magnesium-aluminum alloy, you don’t have to worry about durability. The design is very elegant, featuring diamond-cut corners and a stylish dotted pattern, which diagonally divides the lid into two parts. When you open the laptop, the keyboard lifts up, to give you a more comfortable angle. This also exposes some vents, below the keyboard, which usually can’t be there. This gives the cooling an additional passage for air to go through, and a pretty wide one if we have to be honest.

Display

There are two displays to pick from, both of which share the same 17.3-inch diagonal and completely cover the DCI-P3 gamut. The first panel has a 1440p resolution and a refresh rate of 165Hz. It supports G-Sync, Dolby Vision, and is Pantone Validated, which speaks to its excellent color reproduction. The second display has a higher resolution of 4K, but a lower 120Hz refresh rate. It also has the same response time, G-Sync, and Dolby Vision support. You can definitely use both panels for design and image editing, as these are professional-grade displays.

Specifications and features

With such great options for a display, you definitely need some great hardware to go along with it. ASUS has taken this to heart, by offering two processors from the new Tiger Lake H lineup. The CPUs of choice is the Core i7-11800H and the Core i9-11900H, which should both offer insane performance, which can handle even the heaviest of workloads. For the graphics performance, you get to pick a card from the RTX 3000-series Ampere GPUs. The GPUs of choice are the RTX 3060 (Laptop, 130W), the RTX 3070 (Laptop, 140W), and the RTX 3080 (Laptop).

The laptop is packed with features, some of which include a fingerprint reader, Thunderbolt 4 support, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 support, a full-sized mechanical keyboard with a per-key RGB backlight. It comes with the ASUS Aura Sync software, with which you can customize the lighting and create the craziest of patterns. The unit uses optical switches, which have a response time of just 0.2 ms. The audio system that the notebook uses consists of 6 speakers, with Dolby Atmos support.
