The mobile Intel Core m7-6Y75 SoC reaches top 60 in our CPU rankings

The Core m7-6Y75 is a mobile SoC from the previous Skylake generation but we just had the chance to test one of those fine specimens in Dell’s Latitude 13 7370.

Quite impressive for a CPU with just 4.5W but the Core m7-6Y75 was able to beat dual-core 15W TDP processors from the Broadwell and Haswell generation – this includes the Intel Core i7-5500U and Core i7-4500U. In fact, the processor even beat the 7th Generation Intel Core i3-7100U.

Of course, this is based on short synthetic benchmarks but due to the passive cooling solution the Core m processors use, they can’t keep the Turbo Boost frequencies for longer than a few seconds. So for extended workload, the 15W TDP chips are still better.
